A Colourful Bold Wedding at Airship 37

Airship 37 is such a unique venue. Located next to the Distillery District in Toronto, it is an industrial blank canvas for floral designers and gives us the opportunity to create something truly magical. When I first met Victoria and Peter, we instantly connected. They are such down to earth people, incredibly open and kind. To top it all off, they made it clear that they completely trusted my artistic vision and wanted me to have fun with their autumn palette to create something totally unique.

For their big day, we took inspiration from the bold colours of fall and the beautiful changing leaves. These colours popped against the white walls of Airship 37 and brought the comforting and organic feeling of the outdoors into their venue.

One of the biggest features of the venue is the large white wall where the ceremony takes place. To fill the expansive space, we adorned the wall with overgrown vines to make the room look like an untouched forest. We created an asymmetrical wedding arch to tie in with the wild feeling of the fall outdoors and covered it with blooms bursting with fall colours. To balance the bold tones of the palette, we also added pale pastel roses to soften the overall look of the arch. Copper leaves were also added to bring that necessary pop of fall to the space.

Victoria and her bridesmaids bouquets had a similar feeling with the juxtaposition of the wild autumn outdoors with delicate touches of anemones, roses, and pale lisianthus against their emerald green dresses. Having more muted delicate flowers incorporated in the bouquets allowed the bright reds and purples to pop and complimented the tones we find naturally in the Distillery District.

For their reception, we went with tall, lush centrepieces to bring in that wild fall feeling. We adorned their head harvest table with vine-like greenery lit by the warmth and comfort of candlelight. To say their wedding was a night to remember would be the understatement of the year!
